Not Only the Leaves Have Turned…

Not only have the leaves turned but the boats have turned—upside down, that is. The docks are quieter, Optis and 420s are tucked away for winter, and the lake has shifted from wake-making to reflection-making. While we button up the waterfront, planning for next summer is already in full swing.

2026 Junior Camp

Registration Is Now Open.

We’re excited to announce that 2026 Island Bay Junior Sail Camp is officially open for registration!

Ages & Schedule
Camp is open to kids aged 8 through 15.

Whole Day, 2-Week Sessions: $475 per child

Half-Day Sessions: Primarily for new campers under 10 years old

Camp has three regular sessions plus Race Camp, each running four days a week for two weeks. During each session, students will spend most of their time on the water sailing, playing games, and having fun with friends.

In addition to building sailing skills, campers gain confidence, independence, and teamwork experience in a safe, structured environment. It’s an unforgettable way for kids to disconnect from screens and enjoy the outdoors all summer long.

Season Pass: Summer on the Water

If your child can’t get enough time on the lake, consider the 2026 Sail Camp Season Pass.

The Season Pass opens the door to a full summer of fun, giving your sailor access to every day of every session—including Race Camp. It’s the easiest way to build skills quickly, make lasting friendships, and spend long summer days on the water at Island Bay.

For more information about Camp dates, details, or registration, visit the ibycsailing.com or contact the Waterfront Director at (217)341-0848 or john@ibycsailing.com. Summer 2026 will be here before we know it—secure your sailor’s spot now!

Awards Banquet and Model Boat Racing

We hope to see you all at the Awards Banquet this Saturday. Sailing awards for adults and juniors will be presented amid sailing comradery.

We’ll also discuss the next steps for the Remote Control Fleet. At our previous meeting, we chose the Soling 1‑Meter class. Since then:

·I’ve acquired one boat that will be available for purchase and I’ve found a lead for three more reasonably priced boats. I am nearing completion of the first of my three new boats that will also be for sale. Others are planning to build their own new boats.

I hope to set up bi‑weekly build meetings soon.
